October no more

We have had really busy Sundays recently, and we never managed to get a blog post written after the first one last month.

This month hopefully we will do better.

Last month we celebrated Rea's birthday. She is now 16. She is so mature, and we are really glad to have such a wonderful daughter.

We also had a board game day with Caitlin and kids last month - they came over and we played a few games. It was fun.

We attended the OBT play "K-Pop DeMum Hunters", which was fun. We always love their plays.

As part of Rea's birthday celebration we went to the Utah Renaissance fair all day on Friday, and we had a lot of fun. Alison thought that it was even better than SaltCon, and she is planning on scheduling it into our calendar again next year. There were a lot of historical reenactors, educational classes, various entertaining performances, and lots of vendors. Everyone enjoyed it a lot.

We bought weapons, played "stinking fish guts", danced around a maypole, watched jousting as well as armed combat, ate meat pies, and also saw the Utah Grassroots Shakespear company put on Richard III, which was very good. It went late into the night, and even though it was freezing we had a lot of fun.

Later we went to the No-Kings protest at the capital and voted. Regardless of anyone's political persuasion, it should be concerning to people that a current president of the US would "joke" repeatedly about continuing to be the president for four or more terms when that is illegal. The fact that he is selling on his own website hats that indicate that we wants to run for president for another term, and that he has said to reporters in publicly broadcast interviews that he is serious about it seems to indicate that he is more than just joking.

That alone should be enough to make people concerned about trump, however, in my opinion there are many many other things that would make thoughtful individuals concerned about his fitness to be the president of the country. (if it wasn't obvious, each of the words in the above are individual links to different articles that talk about different reasons)

Anyway - to get off the soapbox - the kids also picked a cantaloupe that Grandpa Craig grew in our yard. They cut it open and found it was ripe and ate it. We have never grown one of them before, so that was pretty cool.

We also went over to play The One Ring with the Rogers again, and Mike sang the song that he has been preparing for a month or so. It was written to persuade the people of Tharbad to come together and make Tharbad a better place. Mike's character is a hobbit that is smooth tongued and really expected this to sway the people of the city, but given that they were mostly humans, it didn't actually work, which was funny from a story perspective. We have been having a really fun time playing the RPG, and are happy that we can play with them.

We also celebrated Haloween with a Trunk-or-Treat, and Trick or Treating as well. The kids all made cosutmes: Rea was a Cyborg, Sara was Mother Gothel, Timmy was an assassin, Gideon was a wizard, and Elsa was Pink. Alison got sick on actual Halloween, so she was in bed the whole time, so that was too bad.

As for Inktober - Mike and Sara both finished successfully, however, no-one else did. Since Mike drew all his images digitally, he has easy access to them, so here a small version of all of them:

He drew them in Krita with a drawing tablet.

This has gone on enough, so let's just end with a bunch of images
