Rea and Sara had call backs this week, and they both got into the cast, so apparently they were wanted again. In November they will be playing in the Frightmare before Christmas again.

Rea wanted to add that she got picked for Sharona (one of the vampire daughters of Dracula), which is a more important role than last year. We are excited!

We also made more progress on the bench/couch in the front room- it is entirely useable now, but it still needs some finishing touches before it is all the way done. 

Mike found a trumpet at the DI the other day and it was only $50, so he spent birthday money on it (thanks grand parents!) and now he is trying to remember how to play.

Timmy asked him to play the Dung Defender theme from Hollow Knight, and within a day he was able to play it so he hasn't forgotten everything and lost all of his embouchure. That being said it is very hard for him to hit the high notes and he doesn't remember how to read the music anymore so it will be a job to be able to play again.

When he is able to play Gang Plank Galleon, you will know that he has made it.

Elsa also found some training wheels at the DI, and so we installed them on her bike. She is enjoying riding around with them.

This week we also got a trampoline from Grandpa Mike and Grandma Sheila's. The kids have been enjoying jumping on it and especially appreciate the water sprayers that are around the top. They regularly have been coming in sopping wet.

Much of our time this week has been spent in preparations for school. Alison has been continuing to prepare the school room and we have purchased clothing and materials and we have been getting the schedules all set and ready.

Andrea has been enjoying the spring immensely. She loves to spend most of her time outside (she would probably spend almost all of it out there if her mother would let her). She loves to break into the goat food and feed the goats and chickens. She was digging holes under the fence (not to get through (she knows how to open the door) but to use the dirt as play goat food when we don't let her get any more real goat food) this leaves the chickens enough space to squeeze under the fence and enter into our garden area. The chickens have been laying a ton of eggs. The black and white one lays one every day and the other two lay eggs on alternating days it seems. Lala has been still producing milk in decent quantities (it is too bad that we have to dry her off when we go to Japan, but I doubt that we will be able to find someone who is willing to milk her that entire time). It was a mighty duel.

The date was Saturday, March 24th 2012. The weather was warm - unseasonably warm - though the sky was overcast. Two ancient foes faced each other over the field of battle. What led the world to such a place? How did history choose this idyllic spacetime coordinate as the unsettling scene of what was to follow? It must have been forechosen by the threads of the fates, for no mortal could have brought it about. One contestant in this battle was a human male - young, skinny, and unassuming. The other - an abomination from the outer reaches of the imaginable, composed of metals, polyvinyl chloride, and fibrous organic substances. The battle began in the morning, and lasted into the afternoon. First the rigid shell of the monster was extracted from the earth, and then the beast was attacked in it's own territory. The kids just discovered stop motion animation and are making videos of their modeling clay dinosaurs. They're having fun. We have a wasp nest in our big tree in the front yard that Mike is really, really trying to figure out how to deal with before the weather warms up. It's much too high for any of the normal methods. He's thinking of shooting balls of clay at it with a slingshot to try to knock it down. This week we had CC and the kids are making friends with a new family, Will and Grace. They're nine year old twins and Timmy and Sara are having fun talking about Wings of Fire and Spirit Animals and other books with them. Tuesday the Rogers were off school, so we went with them and Grandma Julie to Thanksgiving Point all day. We did the dinosaur museum in the morning and butterflies in the afternoon.
