The Great Drywall Race
On Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday Timmy, Sara, and Rea (respectively) went to Owl Camp. For those that don't remember, Owl Camp is an event that the library puts on. It is Harry Potter themed, and they dress up and do Harry Potter things: games, crafts, etc. The kids really love going to it, and it was fun this year just like previous years.
We also celebrated Taylorsville days this week, which has carousel and Ferris wheel rides as well as other rides. The kids loved going on lots of rides, and had fun there. Most people's favorite ride was the carousel, and Rea and Sara did the Ferris wheel. The dragon was unexpectedly intense, and the obstacle courses were a surprise hit. Elsa also did a pony ride.
While the kids were involved in lots of festivities Mike was installing structural plywood, doors, and tubs at the house in an attempt to get them all in before the drywallers arrived. It was a ton of work, and Mike was pretty exhausted by Friday (when the drywallers began), however, he got it mostly done on time for them to arrive. He wasn't entirely alone, since Grandpa Mike helped in the beginning of the week and Mike hired Brother Martinez to help him for the end of the week.
Thursday night at 9:00 Mike was about to install the shower surround, however he realized that the one Home Depot shipped us had a crack, so Mike, Rea, and Sara went to Home Depot to swap it out for a new one. We just barely got there before they closed for the night, but we were able to swap it out.
We tied the new surround to the roof of the car and started driving home, however, as we drove Rea said that it was coming untied. We pulled off to the side of the road and checked it out. The end of the rope had come free, so we pulled it in the window and had Rea hold it. We got back, took it off the car and got to bed at 11:00 PM.
Mike woke up early and finished installing it before work on Friday, and the drywallers began Friday. They told Mike to schedule the inspection next Monday, so they must have been confident.
Friday night the girls had a chocolate party and the boys played games. It was fun.
On Saturday as they finished up on the drywalling, Alison and Mike went to the Habitat for Humanities Restore to look for sinks and vanities for the bathrooms. We ended up finding everything we wanted for just $50. It was a great deal, and we are happy with what we found, so it was a great trip.
On Sunday Rea gave a talk about girls camp, and after that we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house to have a barbecue because Briar and Star came over. It was fun. Afterwards we helped the Plastows move some pavers.
It was a very busy week, but we are getting closer and closer every day to moving back into the house, so that's good.
