Medicinal Kisses & The Accidental Haircut

Oops, we forgot to write last week, so here's two weeks' worth of notes:

Last week we played the board game Near and Far with the kids for the first time. It's a board game with a bit of an RPG flavor, so we picked it when Timmy wanted an RPG and the girls wanted a board game. It was fairly fun, although Timmy wanted a real RPG and wasn't totally satisfied.

Timmy got masking tape tangled in his hair and decided to cut it out instead of asking for help. He ended up getting a haircut, so it's now chin length. Mike did a good job; it looks nice and he still feels like it's long. Every kid has to cut their own hair at least once; at least Timmy's was more fixable than Sara's.

There was a snowstorm last week; Alison offered the kids the day off school if they spent it outside in the snow. They had a good time.

Gideon helped shovel Grandma and Grandpa's driveway after the storm (Mike invited the kids to go along, and he was the only one who accepted). They paid us for shoveling, so we decided to apply the money towards our DIY Salt Con next week.

Grandpa Craig had work meetings at Hill Air Force Base this week, so Grandma Julie spent the days with us. It was so fun to have her! She helped the girls rearrange their room to add a reading chair to it. We played at the park almost every day. Sara loved reading aloud to Grandma as part of school.

Grandpa Craig came over after work, too. One night we had a pizza party. We also got him to play the RPG Tales of Equestria with us. Timmy was very happy to finally get to play, and Grandpa thought we were very funny as we went on an adventure.

Baby Elizabeth decided to start potty training this week. She decided to sit on the potty, so Mike spent a day giving her ridiculous amounts of juice and coaxing her to stay on the potty. She successfully tinkled in it a few times and got candy, and she caught on really fast. She even left the dinner table to go poop in the potty without any prompting from us! That got her a whole bag of candy, so she seems very happy to be on the potty now. We're hoping this whole potty training thing goes quickly; we're so ready to be done with diapers all the time.

Saturday we played at the park with Logan and Dustin, even though it was snowing and hailing. When the kids got cold, the boys came back to our house to play a bit more.

That evening, we went to High Gear Games and bought games for our DIY Salt Con. Since Salt Con is canceled due to Coronavirus, we're getting a hotel and taking board games, and we're going to swim in the hotel pool and eat the hotel breakfasts and play games from Thursday to Saturday. We're excited, although it's not as great as real Salt Con. We're also going to visit Crystal Hot Springs while we're there.

Today Mike made us pain au chocolat - traditional French croissants with dark chocolate bits. They were delicious, although Mike wants to use more chocolate next time. He's an excellent baker.
