A Stupid Fake Name

*Apparently we forgot to hit post last week. Sorry.*

Our first full week of school after the holidays was a little challenging, but we made it through. It should get better from here. Mike made it through the first full week of his classes, too. Hopefully this semester goes very smoothly.

We decided to restart our Crowned with Virtue club meetings with another family, the Birds. They have a daughter Rea's age, and Rea, Sara, and Bailey all get together and do projects and activities and read stories to learn different virtues each month. They also have sons a year older and a year younger than Timmy (some of you have heard of Timmy's great friends Mason-and-Malachi), so the boys have fun there too. We took December off of Crowned with Virtue, so it's good to get back to it after such a long break.

On Thursday, we had our first Carnival party of the year. Sara chose Chincoteague and Assateague (location of the Misty books) as her theme, and we made fair food (popcorn and chocolate-covered marshmallows) and read a story and played with horses. The kids invited the Dalyais, and Alison had a fun time talking to Sylvia.

Friday we went back to our nature group for the first time in months. It has been absurdly warm here, so it was very pleasant. The older kids made bolas and Rea succeeded in catching a stuffed animal with her bola, so she got to bring it home. Everyone was very excited. We stopped at the Dalyais' on the way home and visited with them a bit, too.

Saturday Grandma Sheila and Grandpa Mike brought a load of stuff to their new Utah house, and we met the Plastows there to help unload and to visit. The cousins and Grandma decided to set up the under-stairs space into a secret Harry Potter hideout. They have a garland of lights and padding to sit on and a small table, and they have all sorts of other ideas about how to improve it later. They had a lot of fun with it.

We are reading a very funny Harry Potter fanfiction story as a family: The Devil You Know. It often has all of us laughing out loud (especially when Hagrid gets a pet basilisk named Slinky).

Rea learned to weave this week! Here is a picture!
