The Large Tent

On Monday and Tuesday, Boo and Gideon were sick. We had to spray Boo down to clean up the vomit a couple of times, as well as washing the couch cover and blankets and cleaning the carpet. Luckily, Gideon is old enough to use a bucket. Luckily, it was over by Tuesday, and no one else got it, so we thought we got off lightly.

On Thursday Mike had an insanity of meetings for his teaching job. They are having him prepare materials for new teachers and wanted to discuss that, and they also wanted to discuss the new version of the course they are trying out this semester, and possible changes for next semester. It went on for a long time, but good stuff was accomplished.

Alison took the kids to nature group on Friday and mostly had fun - it was great weather! This week was the annual egg drop, and all three egg containers made by our family kept their eggs safe. Alison and Gideon and Boo used the simple handful-of-leaves method, while Sara and Timmy packed theirs in probably 8 pounds of sand, and Rea and her friend made a nest, then a framework of reeds, then other stuffing. But then, during wander time, a friend dropped a prickly pear cactus on Rea's shoulder. It was extremely painful, but Alison got it off and we put water on the wounds and it eventually stopped hurting. Rea was able to have fun at Wildflower Park despite the assassination attempt.

Friday night the Poulsons agreed to watch the kids for a sleepover so that Mike and Alison could go to a play. The play was the Drowsy Chaperone, which we had seen before. That being said - we always enjoys how the OBT puts on plays, so we decided to see it again. The kids and Alison were supposed to come home on time so that we could drop the kids off and make the play, but when they arrived, Mike was apparently having some trouble with a work release, so the whole thing was almost cancelled.

The people that Mike was waiting on finally got their act together and fixed the issue so we rushed off to make the play at the last minute. We dropped off the kids, drove quickly over to Draper, and made it to the play as it was starting (they opened the already closed doors for us, so it was pretty close.)

They played it fairly similar to how it was played when we first saw it, so they must not have decided to put the OBT touches into the play (there were already a few spit takes, so they didn't need to add anything there.) It was a good play - the actors were very well cast, and they were able to present the play in a very good light.

When we went over to check on the kids after our date, Boo was already asleep, so we left her over for the night (which was unexpected). Gideon had thrown up again, but the Poulsons thought it was OK if he spend the night anyway, so he stayed too.

On Saturday morning we went over to the Poulson's house for general conference. We took the dog with us and left him in their back yard while we listened to conference. The kids played with the Rogers kids, and we had a good time generally. The dog wanted to play with the Rogers dog, but she did not want to play with him, so he did not have a good time. After dinner we went back home and put the kids to bed.

On Sunday we watched the end of general conference. We set up Mike's new tent which he got for Christmas as the reverence tent. It took up the entire room, so apparently a 6 man tent is much bigger than we were thinking.

After conference was over we played outside and brushed out some of the dogs winter fur. He is shedding something awful right now, and we got a lot of fur out of him. After doing that for a while we had a barbecue and then went inside for team clean.

Since this weekend had left the house a bit trashed the kids were not able to get their part done entirely. That does happen some times, but they are usually disappointed when it does. They were hoping for a dessert and maybe a show, but they just got sent to bed.
