What a terrible crime!

Alison got a cd of Kirtan songs from the library. Kirtan is a Hindu worship style which involves call and response singing. Rea, Sara, and Timmy love it. They sing along with the songs (even though they do not understand the hindi lyrics of them.) There are also lots of parts that are in English, so they do understand the general meaning of the songs.

They also apparently watched disney's Robin hood. some time this week (though I do not know when). Sara was singing mixed lyrics to the Hanuman song:

"Robin hood jump! robin hood jump!Jump in to the sky robin hood jump!"
"There was a time when the goddess divine was captured by the sheriff, what a terrible crime!"

On Tuesday Alison's birthday gifts arrived in the mail. I wrapped them Thursday, and we are pretty much ready for her party.

Also on Tuesday my new used drawing tablet arrived in the mail. So my drawing blog has some new pictures on it.

On Wednesday we had something really yummy for dinner (as Timmy will attest to).

On Friday as work was almost over Scott told me about a cool 3d printer that he wanted to buy. We went to the website and found it to be on sale for 33% off (perhaps they are about to start making a new line of printers or something) That made it ~$400, so he decided that he wanted to buy it. We decided to go halfsies on it and both convinced our respective wives that it was a  killer deal.

He will get the printer Monday I hope to have pictures of some cool 3D-Printed game pieces to show off soon.

Also on Friday we found 30+ mushrooms in out backyard and over 100 in our front yard with all of this rain. They were mostly scotch bonnets (which are tasty and not poisonous), but there were also some yellow stainers, a delequescent that we have never identified, and a new delequescent that we have never seen before.

puffball mushrooms
We didn't get to eat the front yard ones because of a  sad story: Some guy from Scott's (not my brother in law's) yard service decided that we wanted to have our yard sprayed with herbicides even though we specifically told him (repeatedly) that we didn't. We came home and found a note saying that our grass had been sprayed. We called and told Scott's off and they are not going to charge us for it, but we lost all of those lovely mushrooms.

What a terrible crime!

We also went on a brief mushroom walk down the road and picked some puffballs that always grow there.

On Saturday I asked Dave to draw some board art for me for MOAR MOAI. I am trying to make it look more finished for one publisher in particular. We went over and talked with him about it and he is going to do some rough sketches and come back to me to show me what they look like.

Speaking of artists, I also just found uncle Paul's website. His artwork has an interesting fantasy feel to it. Perhaps I will hire him to do some artwork some time. (I do have a game set in a magic world, so perhaps he would be a good fit for that.)

Today at 2:00 we (the whole family) went on a mushroom hunt with Dave, Clancy, Derek, and Logan. We walked around in the rain for a while and found two bunches of oyster mushrooms, and one really old morel.

The kids played in the creek (which was full of water with all this rain), and had a great time.

We were about to go home when Rea said "I think I see a mushroom in there" and pointed to a massive hawthorn bush. We got closer and it was a morel. With this impetus "The Mans" all went into the hawthorn forest and got lots of fine scratches.

We also got over 30 morels. Some of which were massive beyond belief.
A morel
Rea really has good eyes for morels.

Finally I have been playing a lot of Chess recently through the phone app Chess time. It is for all three major phone types, so if you are interested in chess, invite "theTrueMikeBrown" to a game.
