Topics chosen by the children

We wrote a post last week but failed to edit and publish it. I will do that now before I write this week's post.

On Monday of last week for her meal that she was supposed to help make Rea asked to produce Curry for dinner. We ended up making a coconut and tomato-based Curry. The kids liked it.

Also on Monday we went out to the dI and bought all of the necessary equipment to build a powerful set of speakers to install in our front room. We have been enjoying the speakers quite a bit.

Early last week Mike made peanut butter and chocolate SunButter. The children generally like peanut butter better than chocolate SunButter, however this time they all seem to like the chocolate SunButter quite a bit. It is a good thing to have a Vitamix because this would be impossible with a normal blender.

Alison has never been particularly happy with Timmy's natural hairstyle, so she decided that she was going to get some gel and attempt to get him to style his hair before he went to church. She had seen Aunt Sheila style Max's hair by putting gel in it and waving her hands around. Alison tried this but it didn't actually seem to work. we are going to have to ask Sheila for some pointers.

Alison is having me add that once Timmy's hair dried it actually looked pretty good.

Mike went to board game design guild and had his game presented at it, unfortunately, he ended up playing his game with some new people who don't know how to give good feedback.

Timmy really wanted a large fruit he told Alison, so we purchased a honeydew for him. He is very proud of this.

Nature group last week, the girls discovered a geocache. They were so excited. They really wanted to go back on Saturday and drop off a small toy gun in it, however, we were too busy to actually do that.

For our date night on Friday we rented the movie Willow from somewhere on the internet. The kids all watched it with us, and they enjoyed it even though certain parts of it were scary to certain people.

On Saturday of last week, we sold our last chickens, so now we are goatless and chickenless. This is in preparation for us to go on lots of trips. Hopefully, it works well and we get to report a lot more travel soon.

On Saturday Mike was so proud of Alison because she made a phone call that he decided to make cookies. While Mike was attempting to make the cookies there were very many things that came up and suddenly Mike discovered that there were blackened hockey puck-like cookies in the oven because apparently, his alarm hadn't actually gone off. It was very disappointing. Mike cried.

Alison began a new attempt to get Gideon to eat food that she read about in a book after receiving instructions on it from Amy. The attempt is called food scientist, and it involves having Gideon pretend that he is a scientist and sniff and touch and look at and observe food using all of his senses. when Alison started using it on Gideon he really seemed to take well to it. he has been eating much better than he was the prior week.

Rea has begun packing for our trip to California she is very excited even though we had more than a week until we leave.

Now, for this week:

A lot of the time that we had this last week was spent getting ready for the trip to California. We found and packed the last dregs of summer clothes. We bought car food and got the car cleaned out. We pulled out the travel hammock and swimming stuff.

Alison did most of the work - Mike was feeling sick, and he didn't really do much more than his day and night jobs. He was trying to help out, but he is such a wuss when it comes to being sick that he didn't get very much done at all.

He did try a few times to get a movie recorded where he played his card game (because a movie is now required to submit the game to the Ion Awards, but that never seemed to work out.

On Saturday we drove down to California for our yearly trip to the beach and get-together with the Poulsons. It was a long drive, and Elizabeth still hates cars with the fiery passion that could fuel sixty-five thousand five hundred and thirty-six suns of larger average size than our sun, so there was a lot of screaming on the trip.

We stopped at the cedar city library for one fooding, and the Mad Greek for another, and we also stopped one time in a terrible park that just had a bunch of baseball diamonds and no play structures. I personally wouldn't recommend that one.

Sunday we all woke up and went to church. Katie, Becky, and the grandparents are here already (and their associated kids), so it is a full house, and fun, but not as packed as it is going to be when thanksgiving rolls around.

Mike plans on picking a bunch of natal plums some time, and seeing about making num-num jelly. We'll tell you how that goes.
