Walking and rolling

Alison got sick after all - in fact she lost her voice and had a difficult time teaching English because of it. The loss of voice lasted three days and was very disruptive to getting things done. The kids had a lot more screen time than usual because of this.

Baby Elizabeth is starting to gain mobility - she is able to roll over freely, and sometimes traverses the room by repeated rolling. She is also able to sort-of-crawl, but her chest remains on the ground, she pulls with her hands, and pushes with her feet and has her bum up in the air - kind of like this:

She doesn't do it often, though, so it must not be comfortable.

On Thursday there was a daddy-daughter activity planned as one of Rea's activity days. It was at the church in the cultural hall. There were games, food, and also dancing. Rea was feeling better from her sickness and pink eye by then, so we had a fun time.

Alison worked hard this week getting the synthesizer set up to connect to the laptop, and Sarah started playing a piano game on it. It is similar to dance dance revolution in that it has the notes that you need to hit sliding along, and when they cross a certain point, you are supposed to hit the appropriate key.

It was very popular on Saturday, and all of the kids wanted to play it a lot. Video games are very motivating to Sara, so by the end of Saturday she was doing a really good job playing three-note songs (such as hot cross buns)

Rea asked Mike to make garlic bread, so in the middle of the night between Friday and Saturday, Mike made two loaves of french bread. Mike had never tried to make normal french bread before, as mike always loves to make wheat bread, but he tried it out this time, and was able to make normal looking and tasting french bread. The kids loved it (they love white bread). It made excellent garlic bread.

The kids love playing around in the back yard, but neither Mike nor Alison really have the energy to make sure that they put away their stuff that they leave out there, so it tends to get pretty messy. Timmy was really motivated to earn money on Saturday, so because of that Mike told him to clean up the back yard and he could earn $8 ($4 to spend). He worked really hard while Mike was cleaning the front yard, and Alison and the other kids were cleaning the house, and (despite him declaring that he had finished it a few times prematurely) he really did finish it all by himself.

Sometimes Timmy has a hard time keeping motivated, and sticking to a job, so this was excellent for him to do.
