The northern lights

On Monday the grandmas took Rea and Sara out to shop for new clothing. They had a lot of fun and got good clothes. It is nice that they can go shopping for themselves now because they get clothing that they like a lot. And each of them is able to show their own personal style.

Elsa says that she loves cats so much, and that her favorite cat is jello. She loves to play with cats and loves that they are so cute and fluffy.

On Tuesday we went shopping for groceries and also were given some berry bushes by Grandpa Mike. Sara got a bunch of strawberry plants, and Mike got a few raspberry bushes and a blackberry bush as well. We got them late at night, however, so we didn't plant them immediately.

Wednesday we planted out the bushes and Mike fixed the sprinklers so that they will water the new bushes. There is still one zone not running currently, so Mike still has to do some more work, but it is closer to being able to be turned on

On Friday nights since Amy told us about the high likelihood of the Aurora Borealis being visible and since seeing the Aurora Borealis is something that has always been on Mike's bucket list we decided to drive north until we got to the Montana border or saw the Northern lights.

We drove North out of Utah and in Idaho we were able to see vague insinuations of the northern lights, however they weren't very well defined so we kept driving north. We finally saw them when we reached Hell's Half Acre, which is north of Black Rock.

They looked like the northern lights are supposed to look, however, they were not as impressive when viewed with the naked eye as they were when viewed through a camera. So apparently cameras are better at seeing the Northern lights than humans are.

Still it was pretty cool and we were able to see them dancing in the sky and changing colors.

Sunday was mother's day, and Rea and Sara woke up earlyish and made pancakes for Alison. Mike made bacon and eggs, and gideon woke up in time to bring the food to Alison. Timmy and Elsa were pretty sleepy, so they didn't participate this year. After church we were invited over to the Water's for a mothers day party where we ate food and played phase 10. It was fun.
