On the Sick Day of Christmas...

Christmas went well this year generally speaking. Two of Rea's presents arrived late, however, all the other presents arrived on time and everyone seems to have enjoyed their presents. 

Rea liked her dragon and dragon book ends that she got for her bookshelf. They change color and look super cool.

Sara got a lemon and a bunch of dolls, which she really likes. 

Tim has been enjoying Pokemon Scarlet which he got for the switch.

Gideon got a cool dragon Lego set that he really enjoys

Elsa got a costume doll, which she really likes. 

Alison likes her milk steamer that she got for making fancy drinks

Mike thinks he will like his 4x4 grid of programmable buttons that he is building from a kid 5 he got (but he hasn't gotten it working yet) 

We have been celebrating the 12 days of Christmas for watched the hog father and other movies, made fudge, delivered fudge, read Christmas books with the Poulsons, and had a sleep over. 

We planned to see the lights downtown, but bad weather prevented that.

Apart from doing all that Christmas stuff, we have had so many sick kids over the last week that we are pretty tired of cleaning up throw up.

Last night Gideon seems like he got shampoo in his eye, and if might have been allergenic to him because it swelled up and hurt. We put in eye drops in with antihistamines and he is feeling a lot better, so hopefully that helps him.

Tomorrow we really hope everyone is well so that we can go to the hot springs with the Plastows.

Another week has passed. Alison got a new bike this week. She is trying to figure out how to bike around four kids, and was hoping that having a bike with a higher seat would allow her to attach a trail-a-bike to it, which would mean that she could carry two kids along behind her on her bike. It doesn't seem like it is going to work, however, and she might end up just hauling the kids in the bike trailer like in previous years. Wednesday was Rea's date night. She chose to have a fire, read books, and have a dessert. It was fun. This week Rea and Sara went to theater camp to prepare for a play that they put on on Saturday. It was The ugly duckling. They said their lines clearly, and spoke toward the audience most of the time. They did very well. At the same time, Alison, Timmy, and Gideon waited outside for them, and got good naps. The End of Summer

We almost missed writing last week! Here is a quick summary of what happened. Gideon has graduated to wearing underwear. We are very proud of him, even though he is still wetting the floor. This last week was the first week of our homeschool. Alison made the girls planners and special school boxes, and they've been enjoying doing school every day. Timmy is very jealous of their stuff, and Gideon wants to be the center of attention during school time, so Alison is still working the kinks out. But everyone is excited for the new school year. The pool was closing this weekend, so Alison and the kids went swimming every single day. It made for a busy week, but it was very fun. Sara and Rea can both swim independently, and Timmy and Gideon are very brave to play in the water. We enjoyed our pool season immensely. Posted late because we forgot to hit post

On Monday we went and made a fire in Crestwood Park and we had hot dogs and cooked s'mores. We usually do this activity on Thursday in memory of Jesus in The garden of gethsemane, however this time we did it on Monday because it was the only day of the week that we had enough time for the activity. The fire went well enough apart from some local busy-bodies telling us that open fires were not permitted in the park (which, our fire wasn't open because it was inside of one of the fire boxes that are provided by the park). Tuesday we had our last supper, which is usually on Wednesday. Since this year we learned that it is not appropriate to make a meal similar to a Passover if you're not Jewish we instead made unleavened pizzas and drink grape juice and had haroseth. On Wednesday we watch Prince of Egypt and talked about the Passover. Thursday we played clean up your own backyard in memory of how Jesus cleansed the temples.
