Rapunzel the dragon, and the hunt for an 8-seat minivan

On Monday we went to Sara's 7th grade orientation for her new Junior high School. She is very excited to do acting and art classes. 

Alison and Mike went to meet with the cabinet guy on Tuesday so that we could finalize our cabinet choices for the new kitchen. 

On Wednesday Sara went to a play rehearsal for her part in Seussical the Musical.

This week during outside time all of the kids who participate in outside time and Mike have been playing a LARP game. We go around the nearby Church and we each have our own characters: Michael is a cyborg named Stinky Pete who shoots rockets and has the ability to charge up with batteries. Timmy is a son of a wind God who uses wind Magic. Timmy also has a dragon who is a water dragon. Gideon is an apprentice to the god of wizards and he has a katana which was broken. Elsa is a pink ice dragon named Rapunzel who also has beautiful golden hair. Rocket is an assassin dog named Shadow who can use lightning and fire magic. We tend to go on episodic quest where we gather ingredients and build magical pillars which are supposed to lock up Cthulhu who is trying to break into our universe. We are currently through with the first three pillars and there's only one left, however, we need to build it. It has been a lot of fun to play together.

On Friday Rea went to a stake dance and had fun dancing with the Waters and some other of her friends. Mike encouraged her to go because he used to like going to dance parties when he was a teenager. She will probably attend other ones in the future.

On Saturday Alison, Mike, and Grandpa Mike went out on a long hunt to find a new car to replace our minivan. We have had this minivan for many years, and it has served us very well, however, after the recent betrayal by it we are a little concerned that it might die at any moment. We went to two dealerships and we discovered a few cars that we liked. We are planning on going back on Monday to make the purchase. We made placeholder names for the cars, and right now it is between Bloogs and Magic. We are not sure which one will be the best.

On Sunday after church Gideon slammed his thumb in the door, and got really hurt. It is feeling a little better already, however he's still not happy about it.

On Saturday we also decided that our new house will be named the House of Theseus.

Another week has passed. Alison got a new bike this week. She is trying to figure out how to bike around four kids, and was hoping that having a bike with a higher seat would allow her to attach a trail-a-bike to it, which would mean that she could carry two kids along behind her on her bike. It doesn't seem like it is going to work, however, and she might end up just hauling the kids in the bike trailer like in previous years. Wednesday was Rea's date night. She chose to have a fire, read books, and have a dessert. It was fun. This week Rea and Sara went to theater camp to prepare for a play that they put on on Saturday. It was The ugly duckling. They said their lines clearly, and spoke toward the audience most of the time. They did very well. At the same time, Alison, Timmy, and Gideon waited outside for them, and got good naps. The End of Summer

We almost missed writing last week! Here is a quick summary of what happened. Gideon has graduated to wearing underwear. We are very proud of him, even though he is still wetting the floor. This last week was the first week of our homeschool. Alison made the girls planners and special school boxes, and they've been enjoying doing school every day. Timmy is very jealous of their stuff, and Gideon wants to be the center of attention during school time, so Alison is still working the kinks out. But everyone is excited for the new school year. The pool was closing this weekend, so Alison and the kids went swimming every single day. It made for a busy week, but it was very fun. Sara and Rea can both swim independently, and Timmy and Gideon are very brave to play in the water. We enjoyed our pool season immensely. Posted late because we forgot to hit post

On Monday we went and made a fire in Crestwood Park and we had hot dogs and cooked s'mores. We usually do this activity on Thursday in memory of Jesus in The garden of gethsemane, however this time we did it on Monday because it was the only day of the week that we had enough time for the activity. The fire went well enough apart from some local busy-bodies telling us that open fires were not permitted in the park (which, our fire wasn't open because it was inside of one of the fire boxes that are provided by the park). Tuesday we had our last supper, which is usually on Wednesday. Since this year we learned that it is not appropriate to make a meal similar to a Passover if you're not Jewish we instead made unleavened pizzas and drink grape juice and had haroseth. On Wednesday we watch Prince of Egypt and talked about the Passover. Thursday we played clean up your own backyard in memory of how Jesus cleansed the temples.
