I'm Much, Much Too Busy...
Alison and Mike celebrated their 16th anniversary this week. We were so busy that we didn't really plan anything, but Mike ended up making a not very amazing chocolate mousse, which he called a malfeasance (Because it wasn't a tort).
Rea and Sara both continued to attend their play rehearsals this week. They are practicing Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6:30 to 9:30, and Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 12:30, so it's a lot! They are having fun, though. This week, Alison took them on the bus on Tuesday, so that they could learn how to do it. We're not sure how often they'll take the bus - they have to leave at 5:15 to get there early enough to not be nervous about being late, and Rea doesn't get home until 4:30 on Thursdays, so probably only on Tuesdays. But that's one less hour Alison has to spend driving them!
Elsa got an award for friendship at school this week! That's not too surprising; she tells us that everyone in her class is her friend and always has lots to tell us about them. We're so glad she's loving public school!
Gideon officially came back to homeschooling this week. He was just not happy at public school. Alison is still trying to work out exactly how to juggle three kids on such different levels, but he is much happier now.
We had far too many activities this week - we had up to 8 things on our calendar on the worst night, and no night was completely empty. It probably will stay busy until the play ends, although hopefully not 8-things-in-one-night busy.
Friday was the Grant elementary school carnival, their big PTA fundraiser. The kids had a wonderful time spending their tickets at the games and face painting and tattoo and food stalls, and playing in the bounce houses.
On Saturday we went to Taylorsville's Tombstone Tales in the cemetery around the corner from our house. The Taylorsville City Council puts this on every few years; they pick some graves in the cemetery and have actors impersonate the person buried there and tell us their story. We go to about six graves that each have a ten-minute story. It's very fun and we like it every time, although Mike has never gotten to go. This time Elsa wasn't feeling well and insisted on Mike staying home with her. Someday he'll get to see it!
Today was the Primary Program, and the kids did a fabulous job. They all sang very loudly (with Timmy rocking out to My Own Sacred Grove at one point) and did their parts really well. Elsa spoke loudly and clearly, and Tim and Gideon both read their parts perfectly with no help. Tim actually did research on temples and wrote a two-minute talk on how the Kirtland Temple was built. It was great! We're very proud of them.
