These things ought not so to be

We had our church Christmas party this week. As we were getting ready for it we dressed andrea up in a Santa Claus suit. I was narrating as we strapped Sara into her car seat
"With this coat and this hat, Rea looks just like Saint Nick.
All she needs is a reindeer...
Rea looked around"

She did start looking around for a reindeer as I continued to quote:

"But, since reindeer are scarce, there was none to be found."

She cut me off at this point. She had grabbed the decapitated horse head on a stick toy and triumphantly raised it over her head:

"Here is a reindeer!"

She then began to ride the new reindeer around the room.

the 30th marked the end of work on Dancing Robots. I think that I will polish it up a bit and release it as a PnP game.

Here is a link to the current rules document.

This Saturday we made another cheese. it was a derby. I swear that it is far bigger than 5 lbs (but I have not yet weighed it.) It is the biggest cheese we have made yet. It had a few mistakes in the creation process (it was pressed a little to long, and it also waited in a clean break stage for a while before we cut it), but nothing that should make it less edible. It will likely just end up harder than a derby usually is. It has full cream in it (and goats apparently make more fatty milk than cows, so it has full goat cream.) I also added a little lipase cause I like the flavor.

Sunday morning was windy. We had a power outage at home, then at church, and then after we came home a tree fell on our house.

Rich (our neighbor) has told me on a few separate occasions that he owns two feet of property on our side of the fence in between our houses. (basically the fence should be closer to our house by 2 feet.) I have told him that if he ever desires to move the fence then he is welcome to.

There are two trees in these two feet of property which are both dead. One of them fell down in the wind storm. it was about 11 inches in diameter at the base, and was a tall poplar/aspen type tree. It hit our house when it fell.

Fortunately it fell perfectly, and did not do any consequential damage to our house. It landed exactly perpendicular to the roof (so it did not concentrate the force of its strike in any one location) and it landed near a corner (where the roof is strongest).

Though it did not real damage to speak of I didn't want it resting on my house for any length of time. I borrowed a chain saw from a high priest in our ward and enlisted the help of Daniel and Scott to dismember the offender and throw the remains off of the roof. After we were done we had dinner and then watched the Christmas devotional.

While we were in church Andrea sang 'Away in a Manger' to her doll and wrapped it up in a scarf. She also bit Sara in the hand.

Out of the same mouth proceedeth hymning and biting. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
