Dinnerween
Alison wrote this post for me as I played outside in the snow and mud with Rea and Sara. They really love playing in the mud.
We asked the girls what we should put in this week's post. The first response: Sara loves oatmeal. It's her current favorite word in any conversation regarding food, or to start a conversation about food. (Rea was coughing and we were talking about good things to eat when you're sick - chicken noodle soup, etc - and Sara chimed in, "Oatmeal!")
The second response: Rea played Catwings. She likes playing books, and Catwings is a fun one. Alison was having a nap while this happened, and when she came in Sara told her a long story about finding mean kittens that bit Sara. I wonder what went on...
Rea and Sara are sick. They are both coughing and have sore throats. This kept them home from Church yesterday, so Sara's first nursery day has been put off. Rea also missed giving the prayer in Primary, but we haven't mentioned that to her and she seems to have forgotten about it. It's too bad; she was very excited.
We gave the girls real cranberry juice. Rea likes cranberry juice, she says. To get her to drink it, we ended up with 1/2 cup 100% cranberry juice mixed with 3 tablespoons of white sugar. No wonder she likes it!
Mike has been reading the girls Fudge-a-mania and finished it this week. Rea very much enjoyed it and wants to read it again. Alison doesn't like Judy Blume and insists that this is a Daddy book.
Mike and Alison went on a nice date on Friday - Grandma Sheila babysat and we went out for an expensive dinner at our local Indian restaurant. Alison has loved Indian food ever since her mission, and Mike basically likes all varieties of ethnic food, so it was great. After dinner, we went to Barnes and Nobles and browsed baby name books and travel books. Mike has decided to name the baby Blup. (I (Mike) have to chime in here, and add that I thought that we had both agreed to name the baby Blup)
Alison managed to get the house clean this week, but she's not really feeling better, which is extremely frustrating. She does have an appointment with her new midwife this week (had to change due to insurance - sad!), and at that meeting we'll schedule the ultrasound date, so maybe we'll have a gender announcement soon!
The cord connecting our VCR to the computer broke, so we can't watch movies until we get a new one. The girls are very frustrated, since they're crazy about Veggie Tales right now and we only have those on VHS. (They are allowed movies when they're sick, which they are at the moment, but the movies are not happening. Poor children.)
Mike had today off for Martin Luther King Jr day, so we had some fun. The highlight of the day for Mike and Sara was probably a big family cuddle on the bed. This gave rise to a new name for the holiday: Cuddleween. That spawned other names, so today has also been known as Wrestleween and Bathween and maybe some I've forgotten.
I (Mike) just got back from the great outdoor excursion with two cold girls in tow. We had to get some hot cocoa after we were done because it was fairly long. Apparently it is much better to play outside on a reasonably warm winter day than it is to play inside.
I have also been working on some changes to my Dancing Robots cards. More posts here if you are interested in seeing or reading about more than the following:
Also, Lala (the goat) is showing signs of being pregnant - we threw some pickles into the compost heap and she just jumped the wall and devoured them. Since then she has been bleating for more.
I think that that will have to be all as it is dinner time.
