In which The Browns go visiting, and Rea and Sara nearly catch a Poozie.

Monday night Rea taught family night with flannel board people to act out the story of the brother of Jared.  She told it very well and remembered a lot more details than we expected.  The girls had fun moving the characters, although it was frustrating to try to keep Timmy out of them.

Tuesday was Sara's date night, but Alison also had to be at a Stake Auxiliary Training meeting, so Mike took her to get ice cream right after dinner and then came home to be with all the kids while Alison was gone.

Thursday evening we decided to have a fire and roast marshmallows.  We've had S'more supplies since June, so it was good to use some.  We all enjoyed the fire, and Timmy was pretty good about understanding that it was hot.

On Friday, we went out to go to the park with the homeschooling group, and the car wouldn't start.  The kids had turned on the dome lights and Alison hadn't noticed to turn them off, so the battery was dead.  Our jump box battery was dead, too, because we don't recharge it every month like you're supposed to, so we couldn't go to the park.  It would be nice if the kids learned their lesson from that experience, but we doubt it.

Friday night we got together with our ward board game group, the Nelsons (who haven't lived in our ward for years) and the Reeders.  It's been a long time since we got together; so long, in fact, that the Nelsons had a new 3 week old baby that we had no idea about.  They have kids almost exactly the same age as ours, and now one more!  It was a very fun game night.  We played Forbidden Island and Pandemic and Moar Moai.

We continued our Organized Simplicity clean-out of the house this week.  We did the kids' room entirely and did about half of the den/3D printer room.  The printer is now in a case in a closet, so all we need is a dryer vent and fan to keep the gases out of the room and we can use the room for anything we want.  We have several shelves devoted to Mike's business stuff (mailing supplies and such).  We still need to go through the kids clothes and move them into their bedroom before that room is done, and then decide what to use the floor space in there for.

On Saturday, we got a lot done.  That's when we did the work on the den.  We also went to a new local year-round Farmer's Market to get salsa supplies, and they happened to be having their Halloween festival, so the kids loved it.  We also made the salsa (about 15 jars) and went to the DI to look for parts for the 3D printer case.  The girls complained that Daddy didn't play with them enough, but it was nice to get so much done.

Mike has been preparing for his Tower Defense programming competition that he organized for work. The game is coming along nicely, but he has some more work before it is done.

Mike has also been working on finishing up Moar Moai before the ION Award submission date. He needs to completely rewrite the rule book, solidify the new rule changes, and other smaller things.

This week, as far as Sara was concerned, everything was a Poozie.  We don't know where she came
up with this, but, for instance, when we ask her to wash her dish, she replies, "I'll wash my Poozie" and laughs and laughs.  She is very funny.

Mike looked in Timmy's mouth yesterday and found that he now has six teeth (last time we checked, he had four).  Maybe that's why he's been waking up at night off and on for the past month.  We hope that is over with.

This week Rea has been practicing following instructions and accepting that the answer is no.  She did a good job saying "Okay" and not whining.  It has been very nice for Alison.
