Sort of a Break

We didn't get around to an Easter egg hunt last week, so we did one Monday morning. We've had warm weather and rain this March, so it was really easy to hide the eggs; Alison said, "I didn't even have to bury any to hide them all!" Alison is kind of obsessed with making Easter egg hunts actual hunts and not just picking up eggs that are laying around. We joke about it, but it's a tradition, as is losing a few eggs every year. We didn't have an official egg count this year, but we're sure we lost less than 10. Out of almost 200, that's not too bad.

This week was the local schools' spring break, so Alison picked one thing that each kid HAD to do for school and let them skip the other things. Except for Réa; she had to do CC since there are only 3 weeks left. She got to skip math, though! She was not super impressed by Alison's attempts to sell that as a break.

They had a lot of fun playing with friends and playing outside and building with LEGO. They were actually good about not getting bored and fighting until the end of the week, which is better than some breaks.

This week was also Tech Week for Sara, so she was at the theater every night for hours getting everything ready. Monday was apparently really hard, because when the stage manager sent out the text reminding us about Tuesday's rehearsal, he included a message about how Monday is always the worst and don't worry, the show will be great by opening night.

And it was! Our family, the Plastows, Grandma Sheila and Papa Mike, and Grandma Yoder and Great Uncle Richard all came to Sara's opening night on Friday, and it was phenomenal! She did an amazing job! Her part was really important - she and Sham were the last to bow - and she got every line and was super expressive and in character. The whole play was excellent!

This weekend was General Conference. We spent Saturday at home with our reverence tent, and used the extra Easter candy for rewards for hearing names of God or figuring out what the talk was about. They were pretty good, and we enjoyed the talks.

Sunday we went to Grandma Sheila's, where there was tons of delicious food and the kids colored a couple of big coloring posters. In the afternoon session the Plastows came too. It was a good Conference weekend.
